Wow, it has been quite some time since I reviewed a game. According to my sources, it has been since early November last year that I reviewed the latest Ace Attorney game. But today I’m back with a brand new review. I know that this game has been out for such a long time but I just got around finishing it yesterday. I took my time in order to review this title. I talked to a lot of people who have played the game as well and I was surprised of their replies. But before we start this review, I fixed my flaw in the numbering. I had two number 17 reviews. Now that’s said, feel free to leave a comment with your opinion on the game. Or your views on this review. Anyways, let’s go!

Iz verry pretteh

24So, dear fan boys, I’m going to warn you right now. I’m a Nintendo fanboy as well and I wasn’t extremely happy with the game. Don’t get me wrong, I think this is an excellent game but it has some flaws that people too quickly say it’s awesome because it’s made by Nintendo.

One thing I have to give to them is that this game is extremely pretty. The visuals in this game are extremely well done. The attack animations are just well done.

The pokémon are very nicely presented in nicely finished 3D. But one major irritation pops up here. Why have all bad guys a 3D model for their trainer sprite and why do the other trainers simply have a 2D sprite? Not even the champion or the elite 4 got a 3D model. This is a major oversight in the game’s design.

In terms of route design, in this game it’s clear that they went visuals over quality. The first route is laughable. It’s just a straight line to the next town. You are able to cross it in under a half minute. Admitted, it looks pretty amazing. Another sad cave is the victory road. At this road, the cave looks neat and well organized but it’s not difficult to get through it from your first try. Were are the days when the dungeons had puzzles? When you need to try to slide over ice or when you needed to push bolders down to ice to stop you? I felt quite a lack of that in this entry.

This game went visuals and action over exploration. While this game is extremely beautiful, the exploration is  not even worth it. Take for example the cave where MewTwo is hidden. As soon as you enter, you need to run straight ahead and he is in front of your face. Lame with capital L.

Mixed feelings

imagesFrom the start it’s quite clear that the geographical location of this game is France. The main city has a  big Eiffel tower in the middle. But you are blocked from doing the gyms out of order. Or even explore the whole city. There is always a problem with the road or power.

The main city, that’s one of the best places to explore. It’s a huge city and there is a lot to do.

Maybe what I’m trying to say is that this game is quite linear. Yeah, that’s it. But what strikes me as odd is that this game is quite less subtle. You are given items by talking to anybody. And if you simply talk to everybody, your inventory will soon fill up with nice TM’s and such.

But something that took quite a drop is the difficulty. I was blown away by how easy this game is. Honestly, I haven’t battled every trainer and I’m quite sure I have fled more from battles then finished them. And I was able to beat the elite four from the second try. Champion included.

I often had feelings that this game was lending elements from earlier games in it’s story. But they finally started to use more then just one character and your rival. Each character has his or her personal “mini-story” line which makes finishing the game quite interesting. But I didn’t like the sections where somebody followed you. I mean, it’s unique and refreshing to see but why did they give them the powers to heal your Pokémon? -Sigh-

Not quite done yet.

imagesWhile it sounds that I’m ripping this game apart, I’m not quite done with doing that just yet.  The music is just “meh” at best. Some tracks sound quite nice but themes like the gym leader theme are just lackluster. It doesn’t pack the punch previous themes had. One of my friends who played the game more extensively then I did, agreed with my views on the music. It’s not that good compared to the amazing tracks we heard in previous entries. My favorite entry for gym leader has to go to the Black & White generation.

Also, Nintendo, why did we map rollerskates to the circle pad again? This is one of the few games where the dpad DOES actually something and you map the rollerskates which are at times a tad bit uncontrolable to the circle pad? Just no. My main complaint here is that you can’t have certain set items like, if I recall correctly, the item finder with the roller skates.

One of the biggest downfalls of this game is the lacking of post game content. The friend zone safari is an utter joke. Just a square patch of grass to run around in? Don’t make me laugh. You are now allowed to catch two legendary’s and fight in a tower with a “trainer spawner”. Could they have made it any more boring? The only reason you would return is for completing your Pokédex… … Don’t get me started on that.

In my honest opinion, the Pokédex is a failure. Splitting it into 3 different Pokédex’s make the information gone all cluttered.

To finish off this section, there are a lot of small and minor things that the developers took out of the game for some unknown reason. You can’t clean your badges and according to trustful sources, I’m too lazy to check at the moment, you can’t put a signature at your trainer card.

So, up to the next section. To make this review a special one since I’m back with a review!

THIS GAME IS SHIT?!?

Horde-Encounter-screenshot-3Alright, while I don’t feel like cutting out the borders of this image in order to save time writing this review, the most important question is… is this game shit? Well, no. Actually far from it!

Nintendo actually did some amazing changes. First thing is the story. While for some it will be a tad bit annoying that there is sometimes a big gap between gyms, I actually applaud them for it.

Think about it this way, they gave Pokemon more depth instead of always going from one town to the next in order to fight the gym and then rarely to never return to that village.

I have talked about the amazing visuals earlier. The animation is something where this game shines extremely. When a wild Pokemon jumps at you from the bushes or drops down from the ceiling, it just makes you feel that Pokemon might be real.

Something that took me totally off-guard is how extensive you can customize your character.  When you pick your gender, you have three different styles to chose from. And above all that, you can go get a hair cut and also buy other clothes. And those clothes aren’t just for show, they can provide you to area’s that are restricted for “casual people”.

Some tweaks have been made to make the game better accessible then the DS entries. But the big change is that these games have more depth. Look at the screenshot for example, now Pokemon can attack in hordes. (Inb4 the next generation has zombie Pokemon).

And FINALLY Nintendo and Game Freak made a smart move and used their old Pokemon in Kalos. Yes, the amount of silly and no creative Pokemon in a new generation has come to an end. While there are a few exceptions to this statement, nearly all the newly introduced Pokemon get my stamp of approval.

Something I’m on the edge about is how sometimes “super effective” attacks  can take up so much HP. But when thinking about it for a bit and comparing it to the anime series, it makes sense.

What I also liked is the fact that there are minor story differences between both versions. And you get way more involved into the story which is quite nice as well.

The amount of side content, like the castle where you can battle to get your rank up is such a fun idea. Or the ability to walk and actually pet your Pokemon. Totally worth it. While the head bashing mini game is actually head bashing for me since I barely get it working for some reason.

And according to my friend, with the new Fairy type, the moves are quite balanced.

Also, this game has amazing online features, or so I heard. I’m not a big online player so I haven’t tested that out. But again, from what I heard from 3 class mates, it gets them a real fun experience.

If you try to catch them all, you get a big game. This game will last you for quite a while. And since it’s an RPG, the replay value is extremely high. And with the cutscenes and all that, it’s really worth it.

But this review is really getting extremely lengthy here. Time to wrap this baby up. There are some things I haven’t talked about in this review, but I think you should play the game in order to find those out. I know this is a cheap move but if you think the game isn’t already something for you based on this review, well the things I now hold as a surprise won’t pull you over for sure. I think.

Conclusion

The bad:

– Music could have been better.

– 3D sprites for the bad guys.

– Some nice features are cut.

– The game is a bit too easy.

– Worst post game content ever.

– Pokedex isn’t one of the best out there.

The good:

+ Great use of old and new Pokemon.

+ Beautiful game.

+ Best story in a long time in the Pokemon games.

+ Very lengthy game if you try to complete it 100%

+ Online features are a great thing.

Conclusion:

What this game lacks is the finishing polish. Don’t get me wrong, this game is extremely well made but made some stupid flaws that pull the game down.

This game takes the Pokemon series in the right direction but it isn’t there just yet. If you are a fan of the Pokemon series and you are thinking about buying this game, my advice is: buy it. Yes, it comes recommend. But be warned, the game has some flaws.

And those flaws are understandable. Since this game takes risks in order to improve upon the formula. With this kind of feedback from fans the game can only grow and we might receive a more improved new generation!

Thanks for reading my lengthy review. I hoped you enjoyed reading my wall of text about this game. I have the game for my next review already selected. I hope to see you then.

CreepyPasta: Player 2 not found – Written by: NekoJonez

Player 2 not found

If my story is ever read on a channel where they read or discuss creepypasta’s I’m quite sure they might shout at my story that it has some clichés and that it killed the experience. Sadly enough, I wish I could convince those people that this story is quite real. And I’m finally ready to tell it. I don’t speak English, but given that I want a bigger audience for my tale, I’ll try my best to translate. I’m trying to talk about a big life change event here.

Some time ago, I had a great friend. He was one of the only guys who looked after me. We were both into the same style of games. Which is surprising, mostly you and your friends have a few games in common, but Eric and I, we both had nearly exactly same tastes in games.

One day a sad truth came falling into my letterbox. That winter will be forever ice cold to me. Get it… Winter, cold..? Never mind, I might be ruining the mood here. Anyways, I got that letter. It was a letter to tell me that Eric died due to a stupid accident. He slipped with his bike and broke his neck at the street pavement. And that in front of our favorite gaming store.

I was shocked and mad. Mad because I told him so many times that he should go cycling when it had frozen. And shocked because Eric was dead. My best friend. I had him for nine years. I went through one of the roughest periods of my life. I went insane for a few weeks. I saw things move for no reasons and various other things. It was like I took drugs, while in reality I didn’t take any.

But when I finally came back to my senses, I was wishing that I had that pen from the Time Hollow game. Ethan, the game’s main character, was able to open a time “portal” there and change the past. I could have saved him. Thinking about that game made me remember my Nintendo DS and my flashcard. For the readers who don’t know what that is, it’s a card which you can use to play roms on the actual device. So, I haven’t downloaded any roms from shady websites. Don’t worry, my story doesn’t have any of that.

When I booted up Phantom Hourglass, I started to notice something strange. At the part where you needed to meet-up with Linebeck, there was a character at the docks. That guy who is normally there to say: “Hey, do you have a canon already.” I don’t remember the exact lines. The ship was missing. And Linebeck of course as well. The character at the docks said to me that he was gone. Because his friend went missing.

I scratched my head. Linebeck and friends. I looked it up in my Hyrule Historia book I got and I couldn’t find any information. Did I download a bad rom by accident? Was I going to be tricked into a scary game where blood and gore is going to come? I shook it off. It might have been my fantasy going wild again.

Then I started playing Spirit Tracks on the flashcard. First I saw that the train controls where missing. I got a little annoyed. Again something missing? But before I let out some soft curses, I remembered that the anti-piracy protection was that the train controls didn’t appear. When I patched the game and tried it out quickly in my emulator, the train controls where there. I sighed in relief.

I sent over the save file from the emulator and the patched rom to my flashcard and I started playing. To my surprise, my save file was corrupt. Did I close the emulator while it was still saving? Or did the coders of the emulator derp and bugged the save files? I didn’t really mind since my game was at the very start anyways.

Before I even could start the train exam, the track were already gone. This was supposed to happen later in the game. I got confused. I didn’t understand at all. I closed my DS and shut it down. I checked my flashcard for any damage. I wondered to myself if something broke which made my game glitch so bad. I put my DS aside. I’m kind of lazy and when I need to fix something I look at it a week or two later. Or after so much time that I don’t even know what I’m supposed to fix.

I took my 3DS and booted up my copy of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. I don’t really know if there is already a flashcard for the 3DS but I don’t even care. The 3DS is too awesome for me to download the games. Sadly enough they are expensive. Anyways, this is off topic. I’m saying that my copy is the legal deal.

I started up the save file and my character was named Eric. It felt a bit awkward to me. The game was at the final battle. I won’t spoil who it was for you, but when I beat the game, the main character didn’t return. I was surprised. Did Nintendo really went this way? Did they really made this twist to take veteran players by surprise? It seemed as such.

In the town, all characters of the game, except Eric, were present. They were all in a sad mood. The partner, having my name, was the saddest of them all. He couldn’t believe that his friend was gone for real. I closed my 3DS. The story was a bit too personal and brought back a bit too much memories.

I played some soccer outside with my friends to put my mind on something else. That night when I played a bit on my PSP under my sheets. Okay, I might be 25 years old but we all did that when we were still young okay? Remember? With Pokémon Blue? Those were the times.

I beat an interesting visual novel game Corpse Party. In that game, a group of teens are captured in a horrible school were many murders happen. Many gruel things. Writing a creepypasta with a lot of blood and gore wouldn’t make it since the game is already so bloody and gory. And that for a 2D game!

So, a spoiler warning now. At the end, a part of the group is able to return to the real world. But the ones who died are forgotten by everybody. Nobody remembered Eric, expect the male lead character. It took me a second but when I realized I totally freaked out. There wasn’t any character named Eric in that game. I didn’t understand it one bit. I put my lights on and looked to a picture of Eric. I haven’t forgotten him and nobody has.

At the soccer match earlier today, nobody was allowed to play at the spot Eric normally plays. Which caused my team to have a disadvantage without good midfielder. But hey, it’s the thought that counts.

The next day, another friend of mine came over. He wanted to play a bit of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon on my 3DS. He was planning to buy the game. But when he played, everything was normal. Even the main character returned. I sighed in relief. It was my paranoia playing tricks on me. I was so glad.

The freaking things started to get worse since then. When I played with friends online, I won each and every match. With some major luck each time. I was able to pull off things I wasn’t able too before. It went as far as my friends accusing me of cheating. But I wasn’t cheating. I don’t even know how to get cheats working in multiplayer for most of the games I play.

Also, in various games, things started happening. Like in Animal Crossing. Everybody living around Eric’s home started moving within a week. And in Minecraft, Eric’s name was everywhere on signs.

I went to my shrink but she started to think that I really was losing it. Nobody could see the signs, nobody was able to see the letters in Animal Crossing of the characters moving.

When I analyzed various things, it became clear to me. Eric was trying to get a message to me. But what is it? Is he lost in the spirit realm? Or are his powers just not strong enough to make a message reach out to everybody.

I wanted to know more but I couldn’t research more. I was taken to a mental hospital. Declared insane because I supposedly couldn’t get over the loss of my best childhood friend who saved me from various suicide attempts.

First I was pissed off that I couldn’t research this case but after some time I was able to put it aside and well, between quotes, get over it. I took the newspaper after a year staying in the hospital and I started reading about a serial killer who killed his victims outside of gaming stores when they wanted to return a game.

I got confused. But tears started to flow when I saw the author’s name. Eric R. My death friend is now able to follow me outside of games. The article’s author was different too people, yet the story was surprisingly true.

To this day, I’m trying to convince people that my friend is killed by that serial killer. I started to study to become a lawyer. I want to catch that crook. Before he makes more victims. And hopefully Eric’s powers grow stronger so I have him at my side to solve this case.

–          Several years later. –

The latest edition of the newspaper has an interesting article.

“Yesterday, Blaire DV, a famous lawyer died today at a strange accident. He slipped and broke his neck. The accident happened in front of his favorite video games store where he was investigating the case of a death friend. Who he believes is murdered by the Ice Video Game Killer. Witnesses claim that they have seen a man, identified by the name of Eric R., push the victim.

Today witnesses claim to sometimes see Blaire lurk in a side street next to the shop. But the police doesn’t believe in ghost stories. Should they?

–          Blaire VD”

The end?

My favorite game music #4: Turning this into a series.

video_game_music_logoYes! I’m back. Well sort of. With a few announcements before we begin. First of all, I’m still studying. So, that’s why my laptop keyboard isn’t fixed yet. My family ordered a new keyboard but I get it with my birthday. Which is right after my exams. I have 8 left of them. So wish me good luck guys. Another announcement is that I’ll stream games again after my keyboard is fixed. And in addition to that, I’m turning this into a series. Yes! I’m fully convinced that this is a nice new series. So, I made a separate category for it and I’m now writing my 4th article in the series. Before you ask yourself where the other two articles are, I posted them on the ButtonSmashersBlog. Anyways, let’s get started now that all the personal stuff is out of the way and let’s start listing to some great beats. Oh, whoops. Before we forget. On this list, I don’t list remixes of tracks. Only the good old originals. And feel free to leave a comment or a like if you enjoyed this.

#1 Electronic Super Joy – Vee

header_292x136Link

If you haven’t played this game, what are you waiting for? It’s simply amazing. Tight controls, fun gameplay, challenging levels and amazing music.

This track is one of my favorites the game has to offer. It blows my mind each and every time I’m listing to it.

I think the soundtrack of this game is really worth buying if you love or even just like techno or electronical music. It’s highly recommended.

#2: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time – Gerudo Valley

the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-timeLink

The orchestral version of this track is even better. But nothing can beat the original Ocarina Of Time track for me.

I used this track often as a character theme in my writing. It’s such an amazing theme for heroic characters and strong characters.

The character I wrote with it, is a general character. When you listen to the track and image an army rising from the horizon onto the battlefield, you’ll get what I mean.

If I could let myself go, this whole list would be full of tracks from the Zelda series. But I tried to keep this series open to other game series.

I’m rather curious if Nintendo is able to ever top this track. I actually doubt it since this is one of my favorite tracks ever made in the Zelda franchise.

#3: Wario – Master Of Disguise – Sweatmore Peak

wariomasterofdisguiseds_displayLink

The amazing memories this game brings me. I bought this game judging on the back and front of the box. And I didn’t regret it. I’m actually replaying it now in order to write an article about it. Maybe you see a first impression or a review in the near future.

But this track is one of my absolute favorites from the game. It starts simple. But the track seems to be excited that some amazing music is going to come.

And it’s quite right. The longer the track goes, the better it becomes.

It’s light, upbeat, melodic… Everything I like in a good gaming track. I’m a bit bumped out that the track is sort of short. This is one of the tracks I think would have benefited from being longer.

#4: Pokemon X & Y – Collection Battle! Elite 4

3DS_PokemonY_pkg01Link

Ehehehe, I still need to write a review or a first impression of this game. I admit, I haven’t finished this game. And I think some tracks in the soundtrack of this game are just boring. Like the gym leader one. There isn’t much going on.

But the elite four battle music took my by surprise. I’m now trying to beat the league and I really think that this theme is perfect.

The rock elements is what makes this track so great. I was even headbanging a bit while listing to this track, while writing this article.

They needed to have a more upbeat track for the gym leaders and I wouldn’t be able to say that the soundtrack is flawed.

#5: Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald – Frontier Train Battle

downloadLink

A great game I’m going to replay in the future is the 4th 3rd generation of Pokémon games. It’s honestly one of my favorite entries in the series. And the possible remakes of them is just exciting me a whole lot. (And thanks Austin for pointing out my mistake here.)

I’m rather curious if they are going to remake it. But this track really needs to be in it! I think it’s totally worth adding.

It just brings up so many memories when hearing this track. I just love it and I think it’s really at home here in the Pokémon soundtrack.

Closing words

Yes, I’m making this an exclusive article for this blog. Next article will be a new creepypasta. But I already published it on a friends Tumblr. You can find it on my CreepyPasta page.

Anyways, I know this is a short article but forgive me. I’m quite busy and when I’m done studying I prefer playing some games instead of working on new articles and such. I’m just too tired to write creatively. But give me until the end of this month and I can make my full blown return guys! Thanks for reading and take care!

Oh, and for this article I changed the design of my blog. I hope you like this theme. But don’t worry, I like change it from time to time! Just to spice things up you know?

I recognize mediocre games as soon as I play them. This game had a lot of promise when I watched the trailer. Yet, this game falls flat on it’s face in some departments. While I’m mid-way through the game, this game has some charm for me in order to keep playing it. In this article I’ll talk about what the game does right and what it is wrong. I did play the Steam version of this game. I’m surprised that there are also XBOX360 and PS3 versions made of this game. The adventure / point and click genre’s home is on the PC, DS, Wii and portable devices. Not the XBOX360 and PS3. But that’s a rant for another day. Let’s dive right into this “meh”-fest. Feel free to leave a comment what you think of this game and or this first impression.

Laughable animation

images

IGN gave this game a 8. Honestly, I think this game doesn’t really deserve that. One reason is the animation. For a game released by FrogWare, who has a good catalog of adventure games, the animation is just bad.

To explain my point, when a lady needs to get out of her chair to get the prison director, the fade to black and then they show an animation of the woman walking through the door. Hold on a moment here, did she just magically teleport?

Also, when I needed to sound an alarm, the arm didn’t even visibly move towards it before I got the reply of Watson that the alarm was busted.

The running animation is just pretty lame. It’s more like a walking really fast with waving your arms back and forth. With bend arms.

And something I saw just recently, before I went back to studying for my college exam is the lazy scene where you need to let a cart roll towards a broken bridge so the cart can connect the bridge back together. The cart wasn’t properly on the bridge but Holmes didn’t care, he walked right over it as if it were solid. And when the animation of Holmes dropping down needed to happen, they go to your point of view.

While this game has some interesting visuals, these visuals aren’t great. For a game released just last September, the visuals could have been a whole lot nicer. Compared to more recent games, this game’s visuals are just running a bit behind.

In conclusion, I think that the visuals and animation are the big weak point of this game. It’s one of the biggest things annoying me in this game. Maybe the quality might improve near the end. And if it does, I will surely mention it when I decide to write a review about it.

Only bad thing?

the-testament-of-sherlock-holmes-reviewIt might look that I’m ripping this game a new one. And I kind of am. I’m a big fan of this game’s genre. The Broken Sword series is my absolute favorite. But something this game tried, but failed at, are it’s controls.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. They controls are interesting. And the ability to switch between three modes is an amazing idea. But here on the PC guys, we have a mouse. Which gives us an arrow. Please use that instead of indicating hotspots for us. It kinda kills the feeling of freedom.

The mouse is used in another way. You can cancel with the right mouse button. Now that’s something neat. But why did it have to be cancel? Why couldn’t it be the button used for secondary features in puzzles, like turning a piece of paper.

Another thing that annoyed me is that you have the 6th sense. It’s your hint system. But it doesn’t really work that well. It only shows hotspots you haven’t interacted with when they are inside the screen area. I personally think this could have been implemented better.

One of the last points that made my irritation feelings rise is the stupid tracking AI. They move so much slower then you do which makes you sometimes being stuck inside a doorway. Yeah. Let’s not mention the extremely linear paths and the invisible walls. Otherwise the developers had to make more animations. Oh my God! The thought.

Not crap though.

TheTestamentOfSherlockHolmes_0001When you can look past the things I mentioned above, the game is actually pretty neat.

With charming voice acting and a great plot, this game caught my interested. You truly solve a crime the old fashioned way. You don’t have any gadgets that aid yourself to solve the crime.

The tutorial starts with a small case of a stolen necklace. You find it but moments later, you get tangled up in a new big case. A bishop has been murdered. Quite cruelly. And the game got rightfully it’s 16+ mark for that. Yet, from what I have seen now, 12+ could have worked as well.

The story is thrilling and with well done music and nice soundwork, this game is a pretty neat run. What I really like are the puzzles. They are fun. While they aren’t really unique, they are self-explanatory. Apart from the chemical analysis, I do think that this game works.

A minor flaw which the developers can still patch out is the freezing / frame drops whenever the autosave is saving or when you solve a puzzle. But after a small while you get used to it, so it doesn’t bother me that much.

The fact that this game has auto-saving is already quite great. And it doesn’t save over your last auto-save. Oh no, it saves in a new file so you can easily go back to earlier spots to get the achievements. Nice move guys.

There are various achievements, which makes the replay value have … well some value. Adventure games have actually zero replay value. Unless you really like the story, gameplay or something in the game. For me it’s the style of the story. It’s interesting and it’s a great introduction to the series. It’s the 6th game in the series. And looking into it, the last game wasn’t well received. This game gets better reviews so that’s a good thing.

So, thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this article and the creepypasta I added at the top. I promised my friend Inunah for a long time a creepypasta exclusive for her nice creepypasta tumblr. And I wrote “Player 2 is missing.” for her. Anyways, I think that’s everything for this article. I hope to catch you another time. And take care.~

NekoJonez: Rant #008: Console Wars, a war fought wrong.

CaptureRead more rants for this author.

“The Nintendo 3DS is for kids, the graphics are ugly and the PS Vita is just better. It has way cooler games.”

Really now? Is this how we are fighting the console wars? And is this war even needed to be fought? I realize that I haven’t written an article in a long time, since I’m busy with my college exams, but this is something that got me worked up recently. After a deep sleep of this series, I decided to write a new rant as my return to get this stuff out of my system and so I can continue my life.

Console wars, are they even useful?

tumblr_lscb2oAwaH1qi9hlso1_500To be quite honest, probably not like you expected me to say, but yes. I do think console wars are useful. But not executed in the proper way.

The use of console wars is to allow the fanboys to get in big heated debates for me to laugh at. It’s an use nonetheless.

In all seriousness, I have some arguments why I think a console war is useful. First of all, you learn the gamer to choose each and every new console release. Since most people don’t have the time or the money to be able to purchase all the systems, you make gamers think about their products. Thanks to this, console developers have to pay attention in what they create. They can’t simply slap something together. They need to make something new or better to improve on their previous product.

In console wars, developers can also learn what works for a certain audience and what doesn’t. With this information, a studio can learn which series they should try to get to their console as an exclusive and which to leave in the dust.

But a console wars, is also extremely idiotic. Think about it for a moment. We discuss about a console hardware and what it can do. This is just plain ridiculous. Take for example the Wii U. Such a great system with amazing potential. But since it doesn’t have great 3rd party support, it doesn’t sell well. And this has nothing to do with the console wars.

My point here is that a lot of the meat and bones of a system is in the software you run on it. I have a crap 2nd Dell laptop that I use to do my research for my blog on and play some low-end games that don’t keep me distracted of my college work for too long.

In addition to that, we compare, like we say in Dutch, apples with pears. The Wii can’t be compared to the PS3. Not in the slightest. We talk about innovation against raw power. Two opposites in the gaming world. Talking about the Wii, why is Nintendo always pushed to the side of the console wars? Oh, and let’s not forget the PC!

That the PC isn’t included, I can understand. Since you can custom build a PC, so you can’t compare it to a console. Since nearly everybody PC specs are different. A computer is personal and actually tells a lot about yourself. But that Nintendo is left out… since it’s more a family console… Err, yeah right. Really fair war there. Leaving out part of the competition.

Look mom, the PS4 is so much better.

imagesThis picture I found while researching explains enough. I started talking about it in my previous part, the console wars is just done totally wrong.

First of all, there aren’t only consoles. You also have handhelds. A console wars seems only to be about the consoles. Why is it never boarder to handhelds as well. I simply don’t get it.

Secondly, a console wars can’t be won. The winner of a console wars is the console(s) you own. And as a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, I admit that I have a PSP and a PS2. And I highly enough them. And if somebody bashes Nintendo, I don’t give a care. Unless they say Nintendo is a kiddy company. Then I have a whole slew of arguments to prove the trolls wrong.

And the final argument is, are we going to ignore beautiful innovations, with a lot of potential like the oculus rift, shifto cubs… Or the Steam box. Oh yes, I’m going there. Apart from being incomplete, a console wars never takes new gadgets in to a count. Such a same.

I think I’m going to close off this article. Console wars really make my eyes roll. The urge to slap somebody in the face when they say that a console is better then another is always big. Each console has it’s strong points and selling points. And in the end, the best console is the enjoy were you enjoy yourself with. And besides, the console wars are always plagued with trolls, haters and fanboys. It’s impossible to make a decent talk about it.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed reading this ranting of mine. Sorry that it isn’t up to quality to my other articles. (In my personal opinion.) And I hope to see you next time somewhere. Oh, and normally I always ask at the start to leave a comment, but now that I’m sure that you read my article, I’ll ask it now. Since otherwise I just get troll and idiotic comments.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

TSP-beginagainI tried a lot of different things for this article. And that’s why it’s delayed so much. I honestly even tried to make a “thank you” video but I never came on the right words and when I started editing it, I didn’t finish it. Since I thought it wasn’t good enough to thank you guys and girls for all the support you have given me. It’s just blows me away how much things happened over the course of my lifetime. But anyways, I think I better start writing my 100th blog post here. Since this is an exclusive post on my personal blog! Yes, one thing I decided is that this post isn’t going to be reblogged on ButtonSmashers. Since I think too much personal stuff will be said in this article. Not that I don’t think it won’t fit there, but I would take a bit of the “magic” away if I repost it there. Anyways, let’s get right into it. The article that has been delayed the most.

Thankful Jonez.

Writing isn't an art. It's a conjugation of a verb.
Writing to entertain, that's an art!
- NekoJonez 2014

I can’t stress this enough. Seeing all the support people give me over nearly a half year just blows my mind. I started with recording video’s of me playing games on the gameboy and DS. With some DVD cases on my belly to make sure that the camera was on the correct height. I didn’t knew how to record emulators and how to commentate over them.

But back then as a little child I never realized that I had a talent that attracted people to come and read my content. I had some major hick-ups. I deleted old projects. Thankfully I have them backed up on an external hard drive. But it shall collect dust for all eternity.

If writing would be my future job, please sign me up. Living like a small celebrity. I wouldn’t say no to that. I mean here that people give me free codes for e.g. Skype premium or give me free games. Honestly, I made me having teary eyes just seeing that I get things from people that I only know over the internet.

I’m glad that the free rewards isn’t the main reason why I write this. I just enjoy writing an awful lot to be honest. Since childhood I have been always that child who tried to entertain others instead of having fun myself. And for a weird reason, I get more enjoyment out of making a fun time for people then enjoying myself. I get bored when I watch a video for too long. I always want to play a bit more to make sure I can write a new article or talk about it in a stream.

Nothing has been more important to me then my creativity and my community. And with that I mean, my friends and family. While it started with using my creativity to entertain my community, one day I made the leap to entertain on the internet. And I was pleasantly surprised.

People sometimes think that writing is an art. They are wrong. Writing is just a conjugation of a verb. Writing to entertain. That’s an art. An art I seem to be good at since a lot of you people decided to follow me.

Blown away

The internet is a harsh place. But never too harsh to leave it.
- NekoJonez 2014

I finally decided on the way how I’m going to write this article. At the start of each paragraph, I’ll leave one of my quotes. Things that I live by. And things that kind of summarize the part of the article.

I have seen cruel things on the internet. And I admit that I was a victim of cyber bullying in the past. The internet is a rough harsh place. But it’s never too harsh to leave it. What I mean with that, there are always new places to go. New people to meet and people to back you up.

The thing is that sometimes communities fall apart and new are created. Arpegi is a community that has risen from the ashes of another community. Basically we separated from another forum since there were some clashes with the admins of that place. And looking back on my decision, it was such a smart decision.

Today I’m the “admin” of Arpegi. And those quotes are with intention. I don’t feel that I’m the overall leader. I might be the owner and creator of the group, but I’m not the guy who tells the community to do this and that. And I would be ashamed if they talked about “Jonez’s community”. Arpegi is our community. The readers and supporters of my blog are part of them, the members of my forum, my twitter friends, my buddies on FyreCraft. I consider them all a part of the Arpegi community.

And whatever happens on the internet, how harsh it is. Arpegi never fails to back me up. Thank you everybody for everything. I’m so grateful for all the support I got to make my blog grow and all the presents I get to relax and maybe write a new article about.

A gamertag with a story.

Cats are not the simple animals you think they are. They stay their true selves yet adapt when needed.
 - NekoJonez 2014

Alright, some of you guys and or girls might have heard this story a million times before but my nickname hasn’t come just like that. Some people have gamertags which describes a bit of themselves or something that just sounds nice. But my gamertag “NekoJonez” or “Jonez” has more to it.

The “Jonez” part mainly comes from me being an addict to Indiana Jones. And besides the movies, my favorite kind of games is adventure games. I want to be taken on an adventure with a great and deep story like Indiana Jones. And my favorite games like Corpse Party, Alan Wake, Zelda games and many others haven’t failed to do just that.  And I changed the “s” at the end to a “z” since I was afraid to be sued. Yeah, children minds are scared quickly.

The “Neko” part has been added since I started Arpegi. Which is now over 2-3 years ago. Thanks to one of the guys on my forum who I consider as a brother, I added “Neko” to my name. Not to copy him, well not only that, but for several reasons. I look to myself as a cat. But cats aren’t the simple animals you think they are. They stay to their true selves yet they adapt when needed. And I never change my personality. Yet, I adapt myself to the situation. When I need to be formal and strict, I will be that. But when I’m with friends, the formal part disappears and the loose Jonez pops up.

The other similarities with cats is that I’m kinda lazy. If I could choose I would sleep, game, eat daily. I’m also more active at night time. In addition to that, I prefer my personal space to do my stuff in. And yes, I’m litterbox trained. In my case, it’s the bathroom. But like cats, I tend to avoid and run away from situations that scare me. That’s a bad habit of mine. I’m working on it though! And I’m somewhat successful at it. I’m less scared of difficult situations then in the future. All thanks to my new studies and my community. The support helps me grow.

Doubtful

Be consistent in your content, they say. BS, I say! Just stay consistent with your style.
 - NekoJonez 2014

I could go on for hours on end with this article but the message is pretty clear. Thank you for everything you guys and girls have given back to me.

I have a lot of idea’s for the future of this blog. New articles and new content. Indeed.

I might start writing tips and tricks how to write as a pro. They sometimes tell you that you need to be consistent. Bullshit I say to that. Just be consistent with your style. It’s for you that they come back. Not for the content. Although if you rarely publish, low chances of getting a great audience.

But I’m going to wrap up this article. Thank you so much for reading and hopefully I got the “THANK YOU” across. I hope to see you guys at the next article and / or post. See you guys then. And keep being awesome.

PS: Comments are welcome.
