My favorite game music #6: Can’t stop writing these.

GamesIt’s that time again. Time to write another entry in my series of best game music ever made. Now, to be clear. This is my opinion. So, if you dislike a track, that’s good. It would be scary if we had the exact same taste. Anyways, give these tracks a listen and read the explanation I wrote next to the box-art. Maybe you find new music for your music library or maybe even new games to play. Apart from the story, I’m very into how a game draws people in and music is a big part in that. Generally, I’m look at content as an exterminator. I ask myself: “Why do people like this?”. I want to learn from that to bring even better content. Yeah. But before we start, let me say the usual again. In this article, only one track of a game for each article. If I like other tracks as well, that means I have to put them at another article. Feel free to leave a comment on this article with your opinion on this article and / or the tracks.

#1: Kirby’s Adventure Wii (Wii) – Super Ability

LinkPS_Wii_KirbysAdventure_nlNL

I have only started playing this game rather recently. I’m even planning to write a first impression on it rather soon.

This game is full of amazing tracks. Sadly, they don’t always fit the scenery quite well. It’s such a shame.

This adventure isn’t a simple remake of the gameboy classic under the same name. Well, nearly the same name, with the “Wii” dropped.

This track is very upbeat and energetic. You can feel the power in your remote. In a way. This track is one of the main reasons why playing with the super ability is so much fun!

So, if you want to know my opinion of the game, keep an eye on my blog when I post the first impression of it. Otherwise, when I don’t find the time, here is my opinion in short. It’s one of the best Kirby games I have played. But there are some minor flaws that take away from the game.

#2: Alice: Madness Returns (PC ~ Steam) – Combat Theme

AliceMadnessReturnsLink

Recently, I have written a first impression article about this game. I’m still quite surprised how this game has such a short OST from the results I get from Google.

Most likely, I was derping up when I looked for the full soundtrack. Why did I look for the full soundtrack? Well, I can’t fully decide which one of the tracks is my favorite one.

Most, if not all, of the tracks in the soundtrack of this game are good candidates for making it up on my list. They are just amazing and fun to listen to.

They draw you into the game without any problem at all. I want to finish this game for more reasons then the music alone.

I know that this is a sequel. Normally I always play the original first. But I wasn’t able to find the original. If somebody finds the original copy online somewhere, feel free to contact me. I’m quite interested to play the first game.

#3: Tetris (Gameboy) – Theme A.

Tetris_BoxshotLink

Some of you are having nostalgia right now for sure. I wish I put the music here from Tetris DX but that might be for another article. Since I have selected this track for this article.

And dayum, does this game have some big nostalgic memories for me. I have played this game to pieces. At one point I even had three copies of this game. I wanted to play this game with friends… so yeah, I got copies from garage sales and such.

This game is one of the first actual games I played in my life. For many, it’s Pokémon or Pac-Man… But for me it’s Tetris. Maybe that’s why I have such a big love for puzzle games. I started out with one of the biggest titles in puzzle game history.

And to close off this part, did you know that Tetris is one of the main reasons why the Gameboy was so popular? Yeah, look it up. Or I might talk about it in another article.

#4: Tomb Raider (PC) – Adventure Found Me!

Tomb Raider Survivor Box-Art.

Tomb Raider Survivor Box-Art.

Link

This short but sweet introduction track is one I played on replay when I was writing my notes for Alan Wake or my Tomb Raider articles. It just fits the mood of those kinds of games.

But I fell in love with this track when I heard this remixed into a hardstyle track. Kodex remixed this music, with the actual voice acting and such into their track.

And the quote, is actually one of my life quotes. Apart from the “Valour, for thy name is education.” … This is the quote I life by:

A famous explorer once said, that the extraordinary is in what we do, not who we are. I’d finally set out to make my mark; to find adventure. But instead adventure found me. In our darkest moments, when life flashes before us, we find something; Something that keeps us going. Something that pushes us.

Yeah, it inspired me to do great things. Like starting a blog and meeting new people. It has been quite an adventure!

#5: Pandora’s Tower (Wii) – 1st Master Theme

Pandoras_Tower_box_artworkLink

Now we didn’t get the Devil May Cry on the Wii, yet this game is extremely close. It feels like a clone of Devil May Cry but with some JRPG elements mixed in.

This game’s plot is leaning towards the “already seen before” area. Yet, it’s highly interesting.

Now, I have to stop myself, since I want to write a full article about this game in the near future.

I haven’t gotten far into the game just yet but what I have seen was amazing. I can only complement the game for that.

I totally enjoy the music in this game, it nails the atmosphere and it’s extreme fun to play. I’m currently playing this game together with “A Shadow’s Tale” on my Wii. These two titles are the perfect way to blow off dust of my Wii.

So, to close off the last game of this article, I advice you to keep an eye on my blog. Soon, there will be an article of this game.

Closing words

Well, that was another music article of mine. I hope you enjoyed reading it and listing to the amazing music I have picked out for you guys.

Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, I post updates often there. Like how I almost broke my baby toe and that I was unable to write for a day because of that. Believe me, it stings quite bad. And then you are glad that some nice game music can take your head from the pain.

So, that might have been too much information for some. Anyways, I hope to welcome you at another article. Take care guys!

Game Music #5: My Favorites ~ I just felt like it. M’kay?

image_1Read more articles like this.

Apart from story and gameplay, the music is extremely important in a game for me. So, in this series I talk about my favorite musical themes I have encountered while playing. I have to have played the game and not looked at a review in order for it to appear on this list. I try my best to not have any tracks appear on the lists twice. If I slip up, feel free to leave me a comment. Anyways, enough introduction. Let’s start with the 5th entry in this series.

250px-Tales_of_Monkey_Island_artwork

#1: Monkey Island – Main Theme

Link to the song

Monkey Island, what an epic series. I have various games of the series in my collection and I’m truly ashamed that I haven’t finished them all. While I wrote two articles about this series already in the past, I can’t get enough of it.

The writing, the story, the setting, music… It just falls into place quite nicely. And the main theme is a theme I learned recognizing thanks to hearing it over and over in my YouTube playlists.

Why did it play so much? Since the track is addicting to listen too. You truly feel like a Caribbean pirate, ready for an adventure. If only I finished the games so I can write more articles about this series.

#2: Club House Games / 42 All Time Classics (DS) – Concentration

Clubhouse_Games_coverLink to the song

Lord damn, is this a catchy tune. The title truly fists the music. Concentration. I feel rather focused on my game when this song starts playing.

But why this game? Let’s be honest here, it might be a very unknown game for some of you. And it’s a shame. This is THE best party game on DS besides Mario Party then.

And it’s extremely addictive. My sister and myself have played this game a lot when we were younger. You know, under our sheets in the hope that our parents didn’t catch us playing. Anyways, worthy for an article. Keep your eyes open for it.

#3: Divinity Dragon Commander (PC) – On The Prowl

Dragon-Commander

Buying this game just for the soundtrack was totally worth it. But the gameplay is also mind blowing. While I truly suck at the game, I love every moment of it.

This game is a whole lot of fun and has one of the best orchestral soundtracks I have ever heard in a game.

I wish I could say more about this game but since I recently got it, I can’t say much more then this. Sorry for that. Let’s move on to the next one.

#4: Pixelmon (PC – Minecraft Mod) – Distant Shores

newestbannerconlogo978

Link to the song

Wow, wait what? There is music in a mod for Minecraft? And it’s selected for on of my favorites? Well, yes, indeed. Pixelmon is one of the most amazing mods in Minecraft that I have seen. I’m planning either a review or a Game Quicky on it.

It’s a mod that doesn’t clutter your game with bunch of new ores but rather adds a ton of new things to do. It makes all the other Pokemon games feel linear.

So, I’m going to leave it here for this track since I’ll write a more extended article about this mod in the future.

#5: Electronic Super Joy (Steam) – Vee

header_292x136Link

Such a shame! I haven’t added any of the tracks of this game to my favorites list. While this game has a ton of tracks that I truly enjoy. It’s mindblowing.

I talked about it in my article. I meanly wanted this game for it’s soundtrack. And this game is just epic. It made it’s level design around the music.

For more things about this game, read my first impression article. I linked to it a bit higher.

#6: Age Of Mythologies (PC) – (Fine Layers Of) Slaysenflite

924320_93484_frontLink

There are a few games that truly give me a nostalgic feeling like this one. Okay, that’s a clear lie. I have a ton of games which give me a big nostalgic feeling. Since I played a ton of games in my childhood. But this one is one of the biggest. I bought this game first in a garage sale.

Sadly enough, it was the single game and it was in French. All the more reason for me to work on my French. Then I bought the Gold Edition of this game and gave the French copy away to one of my friends.

Till this day, this is the only RTS that I have fully beaten. I have to say, it’s an extremely though game and it will challenge even the experienced players.

The Egyptian track is one of the tracks I might list in another one of these articles. Yeah, that rule of no 2 songs of one game in one article is stopping me now. Anyways, this game is worthy of an article. Man, so many games to write about, so little time.

Closing words

This article might be a bit shorter then usual but I just got loads of work for college. My apologies for that. There are going to be a bit less articles then usual. Like you guys and girl have noticed already, I came back to weekly articles instead of one article each 2-3 days.

Besides that, I hope you enjoyed this article. Maybe you found some new games you could play or some new tracks to add to your library. I thoroughly enjoy writing these and I wish I could have made this one a bit longer. Oh well, I have a few idea’s for number 6 already so who knows, it might happen very soon.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

My favorite game music #4: Turning this into a series.

video_game_music_logoYes! I’m back. Well sort of. With a few announcements before we begin. First of all, I’m still studying. So, that’s why my laptop keyboard isn’t fixed yet. My family ordered a new keyboard but I get it with my birthday. Which is right after my exams. I have 8 left of them. So wish me good luck guys. Another announcement is that I’ll stream games again after my keyboard is fixed. And in addition to that, I’m turning this into a series. Yes! I’m fully convinced that this is a nice new series. So, I made a separate category for it and I’m now writing my 4th article in the series. Before you ask yourself where the other two articles are, I posted them on the ButtonSmashersBlog. Anyways, let’s get started now that all the personal stuff is out of the way and let’s start listing to some great beats. Oh, whoops. Before we forget. On this list, I don’t list remixes of tracks. Only the good old originals. And feel free to leave a comment or a like if you enjoyed this.

#1 Electronic Super Joy – Vee

header_292x136Link

If you haven’t played this game, what are you waiting for? It’s simply amazing. Tight controls, fun gameplay, challenging levels and amazing music.

This track is one of my favorites the game has to offer. It blows my mind each and every time I’m listing to it.

I think the soundtrack of this game is really worth buying if you love or even just like techno or electronical music. It’s highly recommended.

#2: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time – Gerudo Valley

the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-timeLink

The orchestral version of this track is even better. But nothing can beat the original Ocarina Of Time track for me.

I used this track often as a character theme in my writing. It’s such an amazing theme for heroic characters and strong characters.

The character I wrote with it, is a general character. When you listen to the track and image an army rising from the horizon onto the battlefield, you’ll get what I mean.

If I could let myself go, this whole list would be full of tracks from the Zelda series. But I tried to keep this series open to other game series.

I’m rather curious if Nintendo is able to ever top this track. I actually doubt it since this is one of my favorite tracks ever made in the Zelda franchise.

#3: Wario – Master Of Disguise – Sweatmore Peak

wariomasterofdisguiseds_displayLink

The amazing memories this game brings me. I bought this game judging on the back and front of the box. And I didn’t regret it. I’m actually replaying it now in order to write an article about it. Maybe you see a first impression or a review in the near future.

But this track is one of my absolute favorites from the game. It starts simple. But the track seems to be excited that some amazing music is going to come.

And it’s quite right. The longer the track goes, the better it becomes.

It’s light, upbeat, melodic… Everything I like in a good gaming track. I’m a bit bumped out that the track is sort of short. This is one of the tracks I think would have benefited from being longer.

#4: Pokemon X & Y – Collection Battle! Elite 4

3DS_PokemonY_pkg01Link

Ehehehe, I still need to write a review or a first impression of this game. I admit, I haven’t finished this game. And I think some tracks in the soundtrack of this game are just boring. Like the gym leader one. There isn’t much going on.

But the elite four battle music took my by surprise. I’m now trying to beat the league and I really think that this theme is perfect.

The rock elements is what makes this track so great. I was even headbanging a bit while listing to this track, while writing this article.

They needed to have a more upbeat track for the gym leaders and I wouldn’t be able to say that the soundtrack is flawed.

#5: Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald – Frontier Train Battle

downloadLink

A great game I’m going to replay in the future is the 4th 3rd generation of Pokémon games. It’s honestly one of my favorite entries in the series. And the possible remakes of them is just exciting me a whole lot. (And thanks Austin for pointing out my mistake here.)

I’m rather curious if they are going to remake it. But this track really needs to be in it! I think it’s totally worth adding.

It just brings up so many memories when hearing this track. I just love it and I think it’s really at home here in the Pokémon soundtrack.

Closing words

Yes, I’m making this an exclusive article for this blog. Next article will be a new creepypasta. But I already published it on a friends Tumblr. You can find it on my CreepyPasta page.

Anyways, I know this is a short article but forgive me. I’m quite busy and when I’m done studying I prefer playing some games instead of working on new articles and such. I’m just too tired to write creatively. But give me until the end of this month and I can make my full blown return guys! Thanks for reading and take care!

Oh, and for this article I changed the design of my blog. I hope you like this theme. But don’t worry, I like change it from time to time! Just to spice things up you know?

NekoJonez: My Favorite Game Music #3: Blasting.

GameMusic_InArticleLet’s blast speakers again. Well, sort of. I felt like sharing some amazing game music with you guys again. I had to open my two previous articles on my 2nd screen to make sure I didn’t duplicate a song. But I think that once I have a few of these articles I might pay a bit less attention to that. I mean, with which witchcraft is someone able to make sure he didn’t duplicate an entry in a series. If you have a tip, be sure to leave it in the comments. Anyways, feel free to leave a comment on this article with your thoughts. What do you think of my selected music and what is your favorite game music? I look forward to reading them.

#1 – The Legend Of Heroes VI: Sora no Kiseki FC (PSP) – Battle Theme

250px-Loh6_The_Legend_of_Heroes_Trails_in_the_SkyLink

Ah, this game is my current addiction. This PSP title is such a gem of a game. I truly enjoy the story and idea behind it. This battle theme is pretty cheery, what you normally don’t expect from an RPG. Yet, I truly think it fits in the soundtrack.

The writing and art make the game feel lighthearted. And this track truly adds to that fact. Sometimes I left battles to go on just to keep listing to this track.

I admit, with some shame, I danced one this track in my room once or twice… Maybe three times. Not more than ten times, though.

Anyways, this game feels fresh to me and hearing that there will be a sequel on Steam is making me extremely pumped. As soon as I find an entry on Steam I’ll surely put it on my wishlist and buy the sequel. Yet, this game will only be released in 2014. So, we will have to wait.

#2: The Legend Of Zelda – Link’s Awakening (DX) (GB – GBC) – Ballad Of The Windfish

Links_Awakening_boxLink

Although this might be a short track, the rewarding feeling is why this track is so special. Imagine that you go in several dungeons collecting these instruments and hearing bad things left and right.

Trying to defeat the monsters that stop you in your path. It’s a huge task.

This game is also full of references to other Nintendo games. It’s a unique game and I’m curious what the DX version is going to give me. I bought it a while ago on the eShop and I’m ready to play it.

The clip might not be of excellent quality yet, I play the song quite nice. And the remixes of this song are really neat as well.

#3: Tomb Raider: Underworld (PC) – God Of Thunder

81849_front

Link

So, the DS version of this game had its flaws. And in general, this Tomb Raider game had its flaws. Yet, I enjoyed it an awful lot myself. I think that this is a great entry in the series.

I was bumped out that we couldn’t explore the mansion at all. But the story covers the reason why.

Anyways, this song has been stuck in my head whenever I replay the game. It’s a great tune. The tense feeling I get when playing the game and hearing this song is the perfect mood set.

The length is the only issue I have with the track. I wish it would have been a bit longer since after a short while of looping this track gets somewhat annoying to some people. At least not to me, I take this track as one of my favorite tracks in the whole series.

So, what’s next Jonezy?

#4: Tomb Raider (PC) – Suite One, Level Three

Tomb Raider Survivor Box-Art.

Tomb Raider Survivor Box-Art.

Link

Call me cheaty with this one, but I won’t care. Two tracks from the same series on the last in one article. I honestly think it’s worth it.

Tomb Raider is an extremely tense game. And playing it with the amazing soundtrack this game has makes this game such a joy to play. It was also the game I reviewed to restart my career as a game reviewer.

This track makes me feel tense in a tense game. My heart got pumping and I was at the edge of my seat while playing this section of the game. I have to admit that I don’t exactly remember which part of the game this track played on. But it’s by far one of my favorite pieces in the whole soundtrack.

The orchestra that created this amazing piece of music really did amazing work and I’m hunting down a copy of the soundtrack album. If that even exists.

#5: Fragile Dreams (Wii) – A dedication to… everyone

Fragile_Dreams_US_box_art

Link

This game is simply amazing. While the writing might be the weakest in the game. It isn’t bad by any means. I’m currently playing through the 3rd chapter of this game and the relaxing soundtrack is something that draws me in.

I really advise you guys to play this tale. I have discovered it through one of my favorite YouTubers. And the full soundtrack is something I have yet to comment on. And I won’t comment on it in this article since I haven’t fully played the game.

Yet, I sometimes let the title screen just play the music. It’s that great in my … ears, I guess.

I hope this game is a rather lengthy game. The idea behind it is simply amazing. I can’t wait to see in which directions this game is going to take me. While I do admit that the inventory system is kind of a pain. But find me one game that’s perfect.

Closing words

And with these 5 tracks, I think I’m going to end this article. I have a few great upcoming articles in mind but before I can write those I’ll have to finish some games and do some research. But like I said in my previous update blog, I’m quite busy with college work and various other side projects.

So, I hope you enjoyed the music and maybe you discovered a new game to play. Anyways, I have some work to do. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you at a next time here!

Game Music Favorites #2: Bigger Sequel.

imagesAs I’m The Legend Of Zelda, Link Between Worlds and the Special Case of Ace Attorney – Dual Destenies along with Age Of Empires II HD on Steam and Corpse Party – Book Of Shadows on PSP, I don’t have a lot of games to review or make a first impression about. Surely I can write two about Age Of Empires and Zelda, but I need to play a bit more of them first. But before that, I liked my previous article enough to already make a new, possibly more lengthy, article. Let’s dive into a load of amazing music that I found during my adventures in game. Feel free to leave yours in the comment section down below. Or your opinions on my selections. I love hearing feedback. Anyways, orchestra is ready to go, so yeah.

#1: Alan Wake (DLC) –  Old Gods Of Asgard – Children of the Elder God

Alan-Wake-PC-_capaLink

Alan Wake is an amazing game. And various others told me that the soundtrack is amazing. And I totally agree. The music makes the game more tense.

At the end of each chapter, they have placed an amazing song. This is one of my  favorite tracks in game. The atmosphere is tense and I enjoyed it an awful lot. The other songs aren’t really my cup of tea. Honestly I don’t like game music where there is lyrics. Expect when it’s on important moments.

But the DLC has the best music! The fighting scenes are tense. And the music makes you sit at the edge of your seat. Totally wonderful.

I wish I could find time to finish the DLC’s. I started to write this article ten days ago and I finally finished this part of it. Yup, like I said in my previous article, I’m that busy.

Anyways, on the the next track!

#2: Corpse Party: Blood Covered OST  – Chapter 5’s Main Building Theme 2 (PSP Version)

Corpse Party (USA)Link

I have talked a lot about Corpse Party. I love the game to death. It’s near perfection in my eyes in the visual novel horror genre. I applaud the creators of the game like a mad man.

I’ll probably choose a lot of tracks in this series with my favorite game music in it, so stay tuned. I talked about the music in my review. And since I haven’t finished Corpse Party – Book Of Shadows, I think it would be silly to put a track on here of that game.

But the last chapter’s music is just amazing. I even had it as my ringtone for quite some time. It’s upbeat and it makes you want to finish the story. It motivates you to fight on and solve the final riddles that the game presents to you.

While it’s upbeat and very melodic, the creepyness of the game doesn’t go lost. The track makes you feel tense while ready to dive head on in the action. This track is proof how music in a horror game doesn’t always need to be scary.

#3: Rise & Fall: Civilizations At War – Main Theme

_-Rise-Fall-Civilizations-at-War-PC-_Link

Let’s fight aside famous hero’s of Rome, Greece or Egyptian wars. Much to my disliking, the in game music is extremely short. With each track being just a minute long, the music just loops too much.

Yet, it isn’t bad music. It’s tough to find it online though. Maybe Midway hunts down uploaders and stops them from uploading the music. Yet, the main theme is uploaded several times.

Truth to be told, I haven’t come near completing this game. I just like the mechanic of having a RTS game and where you can see the battles in 3D. And control the movement of your hero. But I was a bit too young when trying to take on the campaign.

This music is so lovely, the creators even made it that you can’t tell when you loop it where it ends and where it starts. I wish this style of music was in every adventure game. This track, I see it used in more then only this style of game.

#4: Lux Pain – Pumpkin Pon

luxpain_2Link

Pumpkin Pon, is such a bright and relaxing place in Lux-Pain. In this visual novel, some darkness has taken over a town. You can see the darkness and how it eats away at people.

While trying to hide your special powers, you go undercover. This game is long, dark, gloomy and sometimes hard. But when this track starts playing, it always puts a smile to my face. Upbeat and melodic. Fun and inviting. Just like the bar it’s named after.

The game is underrated, but it isn’t for everybody. When I ever have time to replay it, I’ll surely review it.

#5: Time Hollow – Opening

Time_HollowLink

Oh. My. Lords. This theme song. It’s the definition of amazing openings. If you can, go find a version of the intro and watch it. And then tell me, you aren’t curious to play this game.

While the Japanese version is totally different, I prefer the English version of this one. I sing along with it every time I hear it. And yes, it even puts a tear to my eye thinking how well written this game is and what impact it has on me.

This game is way to short and I wish Konami made a sequel on this one. Where the game is longer. Since there are so many unexplained things left. And Konami, if you are reading, please make the sequel just a bit longer? Okay? Please?

#6: Monster Tale – Pressure’s On.

Monster_Tale_Coverart

Link

There is a lot of good music in this MetroidVania game. But this is one of my favorite tracks in-game. The music that plays with this boss battle is just so tense, that I was easily distracted by the music.

And when I finally could concentrate on the battle, the music helped me through the battle. I admit that I download music of games for tracks like this. Electronic rock. Sadly enough that this video cuts of the music midway. That, or YouTube must be glitching on me. Oh well.

This game is one I want to review. Yet, I has been some time since I played this game so I can’t give it a fair judgement. So, keep your eye out on a review of this pearl.

#7: The Last Remnant – Press to Victory

The_Last_Remnant

Link

Only recently I started playing The Last Remnant. I bought Broken Sword 5 – The Serpents Curse and I saw that this game was on sale. To make a nice round amount to pay at the check out, I bought it. I thought I earned some great games after doing some hard work in college.

And I heard some amazing music in this game. It blew me off my socks and I will surely play this game a lot more. It’s interesting and it got a story I can relate to. Well, relate as in, I saw it in different games as well and I wanted more of that style of story!

This music truly sets the right tone on the battlefield and I’m curious when it will be used again in the game. I have only played it for like a hour and I am attached to it. So, probably for Christmas I’m going to ask Santa to give me a bit more hours in a day since I want to play so many games besides studying and this is surely one of them.

I advice to get this game. It’s a cheap one and it’s made by Square Enix. Yeah, good stuff!

#8: Phoenix Wright – Ace Attorney 5: Dual Desteny – Pursuit: Ambushed

The Japanese box-art because we only got an eShop release.

The Japanese box-art because we only got an eShop release.

Link

Objection! This music is totally awesome. It’s the best pursuit music I have heard in years. In all the series, this music is my favorite track in the game. It’s the moment you finally crack the case and place the suspect under high stress.

Ace Attorney looses a lot of it’s charm if you play it without the music. I mean, a big orchestra even played the music of this game. Think about it, people who care so much about a simple text based game on the Nintendo DS. It even started on the Gameboy Advance in Japan!

All the songs, and all the remixes of this series are worth listing to. Yet, this is my number one track in the whole series. Thanks for uploading the extended version!

Closure

So, I think I’ll leave this article here. I’m finishing up DLC of Ace Attorney 5 and Alan Wake. While I’m beating also games I have nearly completed. So, expect new articles in the future. While I try to fight through college as well.

I hope you enjoyed reading through this article and you enjoyed the music tracks I picked this time. I’m nearing the 100th article I publish on my personal blog. So, I’m truly excited. Anyways, back to Broken Sword 5. The update downloaded. 🙂

NekoJonez: Gaming Music – My favorites – Numbero 1

GameMusic_InArticleSo, I wasn’t planning to write an article today. Since I’m so busy with college and such. I said that on my Twitter. But now that I’m finally done with my work for today, I was listing to some music of my favorite games. And I came to a conclusion, even while I finished the game, I still listen to it’s music. Probably bringing back nice memories. So, in this article I’ll list some of my favorite music tracks in game history. I won’t make a top 5 or 10 out of it, in case I want to write a new article with this subject. Also, I won’t count remixes in this list. As I adore some remixes of the Ace Attorney themes. They are a no-go here. Since those weren’t in the original game. Anyways… Here. We. Go! Time to throw that volume up and enjoy some amazing (nostalgic) music. Feel free to comment your favorite music tracks in the comments. Or your opinions of my chooses as well.

#1: CastleVania (NES) – Bloody Tears

castlevania

Extended original version

There are a massive amount of remixes out of this track. The melody and structure of this track is so memorable that to this day, I whistle it when I’m on my bike riding to school. I brings back so many memories of playing this game at my cousin’s house and not able to sleep at night. Hey, I was a kid back then.

People who claim to fans of the series and can’t name the track by name, that’s the biggest shame you can have. This track gave me while writing this article a feeling to stand up and march/dance around in my room.

#2: Virtue’s Last Reward – Consternation

I adore games with a dark plot. I simply love this series to death. It’s high in my favorite series of all time list.

Every time I hear this track from the amazing collection of tracks in the game, my jaw drops to the floor. Since every tense and amazing twist came with this track.

The timing was always right. While I think that this track has goes weaker near the ending, the start of this track is what I replay time and time again when I listen to the OST of this game. And since my save file corrupted, I’ll be able to enjoy this gem of a game again. Ah, do I wish that there is a new game in the series coming on 3DS.

I rarely cry when reading a game story, even when the game gets extremely sad. But the setting of this game, yes, this kid’s game managed to do it. Each and every game. Even the latest installment on 3DS.

This finale track is such a nice track filled with friendship but also departure. Love and left alone. Together yet not.

When I used this track in the RP’s I took part in, many blamed me for using a “cheap” music track. I disagree. This track just fits big time to the situation and is perfect from start to finish. And the piano versions of this cry… Jeez. They are even harsher to not cry.

#4: Pokemon Black & White – Gym Leader ~ Last Pokemon

Alright, I’m going to be extremely blunt here for a second, the latest theme in Pokemon X & Y for the gym leaders is terrible. It just feels empty to me. And why? Because of that weird introduction sound which destroys the melody that the middle brings.

Yet, they nailed it perfectly with this gem.The final gym leader Pokemon in Black & White is my favorite track in the whole game. It feels so rewarding when you hear this track and that you know that you are about to earn a new badge.

Since I didn’t had such a great party, I felt that the final part was really happening and that it’s now or never. Man, do I enjoy this track.

#5: Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine – Main Titles / Credits

This is one of the best Indiana Jones games ever. Period. It actually created my love for 3D adventure games like Tomb Raider as well. Adventure games, highly story based games and visual novels are my favorite style of games.

While this game is heavily inspired by Tomb Raider, I grew up with this game and I prefer it over Tomb Raider. It’s also the game that gave me my nickname. So, it means a lot to me. And honestly, I’m so glad that I have a retro gaming pc where I can play this game on. I even plan to buy me a N64 with the game’s cartrigde off eBay just for the nostalgic reasons.

The game has not that much music but this track is an extremely nice combo of the actual John William’s score and the game’s score. And it blends so well that I even confuse both.

Man, do I miss this game.

Closing words

That’s more then enough nostalgia for me to bare in one night. Well, nostalgia that I didn’t plan at least. I do have a lot of music that I want to list as well of games that didn’t made this list. So, one day I’ll write a “sequel” on this article. I hope, since many bloggers have so many great idea’s they often forget to write a sequel on articles. You have to forgive that to them, they just do what they want to write.

Yet, I’m planning to look around my blog for topics to write about one day. And this’ll be one since now that I scroll through my favorites on Youtube, I see a lot of candidates. So thanks for reading and until next time.
